The work of the sculptor Péter Párkányi Raab (1967, Balassagyarmat, Hungary) provides an insight into a complete world, in which the coherent unity of the part and the whole, respect for tradition, and the ability for constant renewal are present.
Yet, or perhaps because of this, his art presents a coherent picture. Through his sculptures, he strives to create a wholeness in which beauty, goodness, truth and holiness are present in parallel harmony. In creating his works, he is following an inner journey that is the natural destiny of every human being: while building within him his soul, connecting earth and sky, nature and the Creator, to create the pure, sacred creation that stimulates life and can create culture.
During the creation of his works, he follows an inner path to which, according to his nature, every human being is predestined: while his soul-door is being built in him, he connects the earth and the sky, nature and the Creator, in order to create a pure, sacred work that inspires life and is capable of shaping culture.
With his works, he creates a unique, individual world, which can be called sacred realism. He follows his own path, he does not follow the current expectations of fashions, trends, and global artistic processes. His love of freedom and his desire to serve beauty inadvertently led him to a firm foundation: to love, respect, and live tradition and to reinterpret it in innovative artistic ways.
In recent decades Péter Párkányi Raab has received many outstanding national and international awards for his work. Besides his sculpture, his photography is also significant. The sculptures and photographs of Via Lucis are a tribute to his artistry.
